Abstract

The papers of Victor Wouk represent the notable diversity of his life. However, most of the material in the collection relates to his work on electric and hybrid vehicles, and in particular the day-to-day operations of his two principal companies, Victor Wouk Associates and Petro-Electric Vehicles. Correspondence between Wouk and other businesses--engineering firms, automotive manufacturers, and so forth--accounts for at least one-third of his papers and provides a good window on the life of a research scientist/entrepreneur. Wouk is also a prolific writer, and has published over one hundred articles and countless short pieces. A substantial portion of the collection consists of his publications, lectures, seminars, and innumerable "letters to the editor"--all of these covering various topics but chiefly concerned with his research in automotive engineering. The collection also includes his testimonies as an expert witness before various governmental agencies, along with photographs and articles by others on the field of transportation. The final series contains much correspondence between Victor and his brother, Herman.
