About the ArchiveThe Caltech Archives holds approximately 220 collections of the papers of distinguished Caltech professors, administrators and alumnae/i. Additionally, the historical records of campus organizations, from student clubs to faculty committees to administrative and academic units, have also been preserved in the Archives. The archival indexes to these collections, generally known as finding aids, are now being made available in PDF form through the project known as Caltech Archives Finding Aids Online. This project is part of the Caltech Collection of Open Digital Archives (CODA) hosted by the Caltech Library System. All CODA projects are Open Archives Initiative (OAI) compliant Data Providers. The finding aids are guides to historical documents. The documents themselves are open for research at the Caltech Archives to qualified users. In some instances, restrictions may apply. Researchers must request access by writing to: Archivist, California Institute of Technology, Mail Code 015A-74, Pasadena, CA 91125; or by e-mail: archives@caltech.edu. For complete information about the Caltech collections and access to them, please consult the Archives' web site. Users may view and search a number of Caltech Archives finding aids in EAD-encoded versions at the Online Archive of California (OAC), which is a component of the California Digital Library. The OAC EAD-encoding project and the Caltech Archives Finding Aids Online site are expected to run concurrently, and users should consult both for optimal coverage. Viewing the Finding Aids For best results, view the documents with Adobe Acrobat 6.0. General Copyright Notice Caltech holds the copyright on all of its finding aids.
